Frdiay, 11 May 2012, PALO ALTO, CALIFORNIA - Hello Readers the Ninth Amendment sincerely invites each and every one of you slowly to regain your trust that posts shall resume with regularity if it be the will of our Higher Power, the overcoming of some of our lower powers and a few other factors. No we have not been spending all of our waking lives at A.A. Clubs though there is nothing whatsoever wrong with that if one is so inclined and it helps. We share our ritualistic reminder that readers please avoid READING FREE UNLIMITED CONTENT OF THE NEW YORK TIMES SIMPLY BY READERS SETTING THEIR FREE FIREFOX BROWSERS TO "PRIVATE BROWSING".
Today's post resumes the Ninth Amendment's plan for regular posts and the several times mentioned full-blown website. To our astute readers this post will no doubt already have struck them as being a bit out of the ordinary for this log. Yes the United States Constitution still rules supreme, and one day readers who do not know the text of the Constitution by heart will actually look up the text of the ninth amendment to see what all the fuss is about, Most will have recognized that the header of the Ninth Amendment log recites the Preamble to the Constitution and not the text of the ninth amendment thereto.
No today's post, the "Kill Your Computer" title after some of today's top keywords, is reminiscent of earlier decades "Kill Your Television" bumper stickers. Yes it is an editorial most unusual to this log in that it does not convey carefully gathered and painstakingly fact-reviewed "objective" news reporting (an impossibility in any case as most of our readers recognize unless performed by the New Yorker magazine by dedicated cokeheads who have had to move on to designer drugs and heroin). This sheerly editorial material based on no facts whatsoever but carefully referring to "public figures" based with any resemblance to persons living or dead strictly on purpose. Also just so readers can know how ludicrous the whole thing has become with keywods, the top two today on Google were both the word keyword. Also was The Wicker Man which as we recall from some years back was an excellent although rather obscure movie.
As we struggled most recently with the latest unwanted and unneeded "upgrade" to our e-mail (take your pick) it struck us like a bolt of lightening that we liked it just fine fifteen years ago when we exchanged a reasonable number of messages with actual personal friends (not for example someone labelled "Your best friend Roxxanna" on the inbox list of senders which your partner should that be your situation sees and says "Who's that!"). All too sadly these services have co-opted the cool sounding names or imitations of the genuine 1960's non-commercial expressions and fully exploited them with names such as Yahoo!, Google, and so on.
Alas the lure of money and lots of it if one quickly took hold of a leading position, and these bastions of apparent goodwill exposed themselves as what they really were, the frontpieces of the same nerdy geeks who no one hung out with at school because they really were not cool at all but spending their "bright college days" (copyright Tom Lehrer) shrewdly thinking out their life financial plans. Having acquired no sense of political history or social conscience in most cases under the illusion that that could be all be bypassed and these were strictly numbers and science people, they cluelessly continue in the greediest fashion possible to create an evil empire selling the information of our personal lives back and forth and no doubt providing it to the CIA and eleven other "national security" agencies in the U.S.government.
They no longer provide e-mail service that works (ours worked better ten years ago and did not require a constant waste our attention to technical matters which had nothing to do with that in which we were interested), Google the brainchild we heard so long as being coming our way from a M.I.T. professor using who knows how many M.I.T. students to one day get themselves richer than Wall Street pigs and recapture the days of the worst accumulations of wealth since the abuses of the nineteenth century. Google would be great and new because it would search for links and cross-links and we do not know what, but in short order what had it become but another search engine corrupted by "Sponsored Links" as note in faded letters on our computers that started to move down the screen from the top and then the right side of the screen as well. So how many of those coveted positions on page one if counted now actually were bought and how many achieved their position simply by money.
We will not even delve right now into the world of "social media" which who knows what that weirdo Zuckerboy really had in mind. In any case it just has become one unwelcome expansion after another as the map the whole world right up to our orifices, introduce "timelines" that nobody wants (no doubt because Zucdkerboy has some yet undisclosed plan for making them all richer), And then of course along came Twitter how cute and innocent we have never touched it or sent someone a twat.
But they too now swap back and forth our readers' and half the world's attention back and forth between them if you forget a password on one service that being the quickest lazy price to pay just let all your most private information, your likeness, your activities, your family, everything. No doubt we just touch upon just the tip of the iceberg as every new "unwanted" service is shoved down people's throats with so much legal garbage (from the highest priced lawyers have no doubt) that one could never bear to read it even if they could figure half of it out.

People will do as they wish. Should they want to do the CIA's work for it, which as the successor to the OSS and actually was never even empowered to spy at home on US citizens engaged in their domestic affairs, people will do so. J. Edgar Hoover head of the agency, the FBI, which was given limited authority in the area of domestic affairs,  would no doubt have have been beyond words of joys to have all citizens compile their OWN files for the FBI and just hand them over through the likes of Google, Yahoo, Facebook and all of that crowd.
Yes Edward Saverin the billionaire co-founder of Facebook has done us such a timely favor renouncing his US citizenship just before the Facebook IPO as these things have weighed on our minds and now he has hit every American in the face with what it is all about. Who of them knows about or could care less about the hundreds of millions of people they exploit? It is all take the money and run. And who cares if one in the end just served as a tool for commercial interests, the FBI, the CIA and who knows what others. If only Joseph McCarthy were around, when he was not picking up his morphine at his pharmacy, no doubt he as well would be delighted.
Do not be a fool. Do not be a tool. The Ninth Amendment has some weird ideas of its own for Zuckerboy and the rest of the crowd who embody no sixties values at all. They just do not even want to bother to tuck their t-shirts in their jeans when they met with world leaders, who believe us, the techies will be the ones one day who will be dressing up for them. And they may well be sporting balls and chains should they not please the powers that be and always have been. The best intentions gave us the world in which we grew up, and finally the most enduring legacy which the scientific geniuses left us was the chance to go to school, to learn to duck and cover, and never know if on ten minutes warning we would be killed by someone we never met and never would on the other side of the world.
For now let them use "cool" names but really we are confident they are well on their way to being be the General Electric, the Lockheed, the W.R. Graces of the 21st century, and to invest in that no thank you. The Ninth Amendment values Facebook's IPO at zero.

  2. Matthew a belated thank you for reading and participating in the Ninth Amendment log with your written comments above previously published uncensored, perhaps surprisingly finding themselves all-to-pertinent amidst the widespread misery at the end of this week's Facebook "take the money and run" IPO debacle in an orgy of legalized fraud and theft from the common person as duly predicted here.
All persons are encouraged freely to join in the exchange here of words, opinions, ideas, sporadic and too-infrequent non-textual material, or whatever other unusual or downright weird medium which might come to mind. This Constitutionally protected exchange of course includes and depends upon uncensored written comments such as you here have contributed.
(The sole exception to the Ninth Amendment welcome coming to mind being the very rare attempted exploitation of the content area of this log for rank unsubstantiated sales attempts by but a few merchants out of the tens of thousands of persons and perhaps we suspect a few dogs who inadvertantly may have visited the Ninth Amendment site en route to food.)
Thank you again for your clearly expressed comments using the kind of thoughtful twist that we most enjoy here as the infrequent example of fine writing with a refreshingly unaticipated turn which belies your intellect. It appears that around here we might not see Facebook co-founder Eduardo Severin renouncer of United States citizenship for a jetload of of dollars (most likely now gold or Chinese currency) and a mountain of worthless Facebook paper (perhaps soon the same thing as dollars) for some time to come.

    1. Dear Counselor, "Curious yellow" cannot help but call to mind the seminal Frank Zappa song from the early period "Apostrophe" album featuring the fondly memorable chorus "Watch out where the huskies go, and don't you eat that yellow snow". "Apostrophe" copyright Frank Zappa. Before his death from cancer, Mr. Zappa re-acquired all intellectual property rights to all works he ever composed and performed, archived them, and released them on his own "Barking Pumpkin" label.
