Happy Sunday! Professor Says Governments Drive Countries Into Economic Disaster

Sunday, 8 April 2012, ATOP HALFDOME, YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK, CA - From a most spiritual place we at the Ninth Amendment find on planet Earth a Happy Easter to those who celebrate it, a sacred Passover to others, and again ongoing understanding, love and peace to all persons the World over whatever faith, creed, religion, belief, may each and all be free unmolested to worship should they wish but above all do or not do as they please. Readers are reminded to avoid READING FREE UNLIMITED NEW YORK TIMES ARTICLES SIMPLY BY SETTING FREE FIREFOX BROWSERS TO "PRIVATE BROWSING". Before the governments' economic blunders one follow-up item.
The following lyrics were provided in a comment to Professor Krugman regarding yesterday's Ninrh Amendment musical post "The Book of Right On" (the Ninth Amendment's comment also was published in the digital Times) among many noting the song was was the original work of another artist whose original performance of it many commenters recommended:

    • Judith
    • Boca Raton, FL
Song is by Joanna Newsom--here are the lyrics

We should shine a light on, a light on
And the book of right-on's right-on, it was right-on

We should shine a light on, a light-on
And the book of right-on's right-on, it was right-on

I killed my dinner with karate
Kick 'em in the face, taste the body
Shallow work is the work that i do

Do you want to sit at my table
    My fighting fame is fabled
And fortune finds me fit and able

And you do say - oh oh
That you do pray - oh oh
And you say that you're okay

And do you want to run with my pack?
Do you want to ride on my back?
Pray that what you lack does not distract

And even when you run through my mind
Something else is in front, oh, you're behind
And i don't have to remind you to stick with your kind

And you do say - oh oh
That you do pray - oh oh
And you say that you're okay

And even when you touch my face
    You know your place
And even when you touch my face
    You know your place

And we should shine a light on
    A light on
And the book of right-on's right-on
    It was right-on

And we should shine a light on, a light on
And the book of right-on's right-on, it was right-on
Now briefly onto the subject of one Professor Krugman's posts yesterday that as best we understood many European governments and domestic interests currently pressuring the United States government have and/or would make economic downturns into economic disasters because they espouse policies which have the exact opposite effect of helping the economy but instead take it into a nosedive. The full piece for readers so interested is http://krugman.blogs.nytimes.com/ .

Ninth Amendment Comment Verbatim Submitted To Times Unknown If Digitally Published

Thank you for your further economic elucidation now on the matter of developed countries' ruling government parties exponentially exacerbating economic woes and peoples' misery by "adopting" exactly the opposite policies that take a downturn and throttle their respective countries cluelessly into an nosedive. We at the Ninth Amendment editorial board at www.waronnothing.blogspot.com thought it was simpler than that. Republican administrations drive us full-on toward the ground, all the while of course clamoring for the full support of the people they must keep in wretched ignorance in order to ever get elected. Then every time the United States is on the very brink of disaster that may even bring the country down, it is a Democratic president who must and does pull us out and remarkably even leave us with an economic situation that is downright positive. (We cannot comment now on other countries' because our top economics/sociology expert is on assignment with that former IMF fellow currently missing in action. Kind of like the Rolling Stones journalist who had the pleasure of spending several days cavorting with that former Commander of our armed forces in Afghanistan and his top staff before Obama sacked him.)
Thank you again Professor Krugman as we always learn a lot that we missed while we were sleeping in our rooms during all our Princeton lectures, or do you give students assigned seats? Obviously you know how to make a chart.

  2. Dear Anonymous,
Thank you for your thoughtful comment regarding your feelings for nature and our post including a special Sunday morning spent atop halfdome. It is remarkable how the Earth was getting along just fine before peoplekind came along, especially after those who were so inclined learned to vastly leverage the sickness of their most base instincts through the misuse of the advent of what could have remained technological gifts rather than tools for the destruction of not only one another but everything else along with them. However we do Yosemite great injustice even to presume to use our powerless words to share a perspective which only deflects attention rightfully drawn to the world's natural wonders that far overwhelm such negative human thoughts. Obviously too much of our time is spent at the keyboard in the perhaps worthless exercise of spreading news of the latest acts of the most wretched among us who forever seem endlessly to appear anew with the worst of intentions. You are quite right to draw our readers' attention to the truly significant natural wonders of the world, Yosemite National Park particularly for us at the Ninth Amendment being one of those most special places in our limited experience. Please do get there, and we are confident you will marvel as President Theodore Roosevelt did when he split off from his presidential entourage and official dinner to spend the night sharing alone with John Muir the specialness of a place convinced that it must be, and which he did in fact forever protect from the greedy desires of the city's rich. Now for many there remains still the task of undoing the sacrilege of damming its neighboring valley reportedly as or even more beautiful if possible than Yosemite Valley. that being Hetch Hetchy which recently it has been reported to be entirely unnecessary but for the nearly absent efforts of San Francisco, with all the press it gets for being so progressive, to reclaim rather than save water throughout the city from the moment the sprinklers start to spray out for miles over Golden Gate Park and ironically wastes much more fresh water per captita than does Southern California.

    1. Dear Anonymous,
Thank you for your most generous words of encouragement. A single reader can change the world, and your sincerity shines through to us like a beacon of hope and affirmation. No disrespect meant or lack of care and profound appreciation meant by our delay in response. Nor to your kind reference to our posts most poitely asking that we "[p]lease keep them coming" when we of late have not. Please do not think that your request does not mean the world to us. Your priorities are precisely correct and your words taken to heart by each and every one of us. All citizens must preserve our voices free and unfettered through their constant use without fear of reprisal as is the sacred trust placed in each of us by the compact of the people which was ratifed as the United States Constitution and the first ten amendments thereto (of thirteen proposed) popularly come to be known as the Bill of Rights. And likewise the exercise to their furthest limits all of these by vigorously exercising all of our rights fundamental, enumerated and otherwise, remembering always that the grant of strictly enumerated and limited powers was from the people to the State. All others residing with the people. Lest the Government never be permitted to immerse itself in the tendency to forget that the case is not vice versa, as then it becomes no Government at all with any legitimate power over the people the United States. As in an unambiguous warning communicated to all posterity by Lord Acton: "Power corrupts, and absulute power corrupts absolutely". Our response: "The People, united, will never be defeated". God Bless America.

  4. Thank you for writing back to me. I can not tell you how very much I look forward to reading your posts. Your response should be a post as well. Your log is outstanding, and I for one would recommend that you write a column for either a magazine or the NEW YORK TIMES. They would be lucky to have you. Also, I think Little L, albeit she does not write often, also strikes me as a true asset to your log. She too always has something important to say. In another words, the team you have put together seems to be sincere and right on point with today's issues. As I have said before, please continue this outstanding log. I hope to enjoy it for years to come.
