Thursday, 24 July 2014, RIO GRANDE VALLEY, TEXAS - Although they may remember the Alamo but having missed the chance there to take their last stand for the Lone Star State with the likes of fellow real heroes past such as Daniel Boone and Davey Crockett today's brave Republican Texas politicians protected only by body armor and armored vehicles armed only with automatic weapons and mounted machine guns are ready at any personal cost to stop shoeless hungry, sick and starving Mexican and Central American children many seeking asylum dead in their tracks (or in the river trying to learn to swim across) at the Texas border. A crime against the People is a crime against the State. Is that malware in your pocket, Dan, or are you just happy to see me?
Martin --
The past few weeks, we’ve seen Republicans in Texas call for militarizing the border -- and now Governor Rick Perry has answered their calls.
Instead of listening to local law enforcement, faith, and community leaders, Governor Perry has ignored their insight, and decided to send up to 1,000 armed soldiers to the Rio Grande Valley.
He’s choosing to ignore the humanitarian challenge -- and the kids that have traveled thousands of miles alone to escape violence in their home countries -- in order to “secure the border.”
It’s time for Texas Republicans to listen to our border leaders, and get to work, instead of using this situation to score political points with their base.
Tell Texas Republicans you want solutions now:
All my best,
Gilberto Hinojosa
Chair, Texas Democratic Party
P.S. Democrats across the state are speaking out again Texas Republicans politicization of the border issue. This is about children. Being kind to our neighbors. And securing our border the right way. Take action now and tell Rick Perry to stop playing politics on the border!
