Monday, 16 October 2017 SILICON VALLEY / UPDATES Friday, 29 September 2017, WASHINGTON, D.C. - Significant foreign interference in any U.S. domestic election necessarily delegitimizes that election as not accurately representing the true will of the American people. Such foreign interference threatens the very foundation of U.S. democracy that requires at its core insuring polling integrity without interference. The Trump administration's complete absence either of execution of any meaningful deterrence retribution in response to the overwhelmingly documented vast occurrence of such interference by Russia in the 2016 U.S. presidential election intended to favor Trump and let's face it very likely getting Trump "elected" in reality to absolutely nothing as well as the Trump administration's failure timely to take any meaningful steps toward assuring future U.S. election integrity even in the face of a uniform U.S. intelligence community finding of continuing interference most recently was demonstrated by Trump's complete unapologetic failure to comply with and execute a duly overwhelmingly passed U.S. law which required Trump to impose additional sanctions against Russia beyond those already in place by no later than 1 October 2017.
This is but another of the Trump administration's quickly growing list of overt actions evidencing Trump's to be an administration which both believes itself to be above and and shows itself in utter contempt of any law with the Republican-controlled Congress exercising absolutely no oversight to cause it to act otherwise. Such abdication by Congress further is an absolutely crucial component in the playbook of the creation of a fascist state something to which Trump has shown himself to be without reservation completely inclined if left unfettered laying its foundation by unleashing a chaotic American dystopia upon its citizens punctuated by his sick torrent of unrelated poisonous attacks and attempted decrees if failing often due only to his utter incompetence and that of his current administration. However it has become apparent that in the wings of that incompetence are some very committed lingering sinister figures and dark forces absolutely unsuited to any place in the traditions of governance of the American constitutional democracy.
The foreign interference and a range of related activities broadly facilitating such interference are accurately assessed as direct attacks on our Nation by persons in the most inclusive sense who therefore are enemies or in league with them of the United States and all for which this country stands and has fought as a worldwide beacon of legitimate democracy and need be legally dealt with accordingly. For interested readers a starting point for federal law making such foreign interference in U.S. elections illegal thus the basis for specified federal criminal penalties based solely on a lay reading of mass digital or print publications widely available to all is the Federal Election Campaign Act (52 U.S.C. §§ 30101, 30121). Members of Congress have proposed legislation to more clearly emphasize what is already illegal under that Act as concerns these matters although none of the newly proposed legislation has yet become law.
Twitter executives on Thursday, 28 September 2017 "infuriated" congressional investigators behind closed doors with their late admission of allegedly belatedly having discovered just 201 Twitter accounts linked to Russian "operatives" interfering in the 2016 presidential election even though outside entities such as FireEye already have tentatively identified a great deal more such Twitter accounts with NATO has estimated that up 10-15% of Twitter accounts are fake with hundreds of thousands of foreign-linked Twitter accounts already having been identified as interfering in past elections in other countries. Twitter officials further enraged investigative staff and some senators by revealing that Twitter essentially just relied on Facebook's investigation by examining Facebook flagged accounts and those associated with them to identify Twitter suspect accounts seen as exposing Twitter's profound indifference to the seriousness of the threat Twitter has facilitated and even posed if not thwarting such activities to the very bedrock of American democracy.
Twitter further disclosed to Senate Intelligence Committee staff that Twitter collected $275,000 in previously undisclosed advertising revenue in 2016 from RT (Kremlin-linked propaganda television formerly known as "Russian Television") following earlier dismissive denials much like Zuckerman with Facebook having called similar allegations "crazy" but now joining the growing group of American social media giants finding themselves exactly where they do not wish to be at this time of growing momentum for their increased regulatory oversight which is squarely in the sights of Congress
Senate Intelligence Committee Vice-Chair Senator Mark Warner (D-VA) characterized the "Twitter team" presentation yesterday to Senate Intelligence Committee staff as "deeply disappointing" and Twitter's responses to staff as "inadequate on almost every level." After earlier ill-considered dismissive denials to congressional inquiries Facebook along with Twitter now find themselves after having also not satisfied House Intelligence Committee staff hastening to legitimately cooperate providing congressional committees' as well as Special Counsel Muellers' Trump-Russia investigations with ads linked to Russian operatives.
