Fortieth Anniversary of Phony "War on Drugs" Passes Still With President Obama's Full Support

Saturday 18 June 2011, WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Ninth Amendment fully expects its readers to pay and NOT READ UNLIMITED NEW YORK TIMES DIGITAL EDITIONS SIMPLY BY SETTING THEIR FIREFOX BROWSERS TO "PRIVATE BROWSING".
The Ninth Amendment must declare that to do such a thing would be no better than failing to support the "War on Drugs", which yesterday on its fortieth anniversary showed every sign of imminent success. In a manner of speaking. That is, "untruthfully".  It would seem we distinctly recall that during the 2008 Presidential Election then-candidate Obama had an entire CNN show to discuss his candidacy and qualifications, including his own somewhat vaguely detailed prior drug use.
President Obama admitted that he had done unspecified illegal drugs before running for President, which he characterized as "selfish". He might also have characterized his actions as "illegal". So does that make President Obama even a less "effective" President, since he broke the law, whereas as far as we know the President recently commented that Representative Weiner's underwear antics in sending consensual pictures to another adult as making him too "ineffective" to serve in Congress?
In fact your Sunday paper without doubt will be full of ads of male and female models in underwear at which you probably did not AGREE even to glance. The truth is, we guess we still am terribly disappointed with President Obama on this drug issue as with so many others because he clearly stated during the Presidential campaign that the answer to the "drug problem" was not the absurdly high level of law enforcement of the Bush administration that had no result but negative consequences.
Mr. Obama stated that many of these resources instead should be diverted to drug regulation and treatment. The editorial board and staff at the Ninth Amendment fully agreed with Mr. Obama. Then, low and behold, just as in so many other matters in which President Obama indicated he was more "enlightened" than President Bush, what did his Administration do? It completely ignored President Obama's pledges during the campaign and now wastes JUST AS MUCH money as the Bush Administration did when this Friday we came upon the beginning of the 41st year of the Nixon-created phony and tragic "War on Drugs".
This "War" which has been ruinous to our Constitution, and a dismal failure in more ways than one can imagine both domestically and internationally, has done nothing but empower extremely rich and powerful international criminal drug organizations. So we guess President Obama in his relentless self-examination must see himself as a little less "effective" a President since he could well be in prison right now while Representative Weiner at most may voluntarily get "treatment" for his so-called "problem". Declare a war on nothing with no enemy for long enough and, sure enough, you get your enemy and your war.
