Dr. Gupta's apparent restrained dismay with the hospital's inexcusable and untrue responses whether directly to infected Ebola patients as well as to inquiries from the media, outside officials and others apparently was heightened upon his learning that with the admission of the third Ebola patient now to the hospital the head of the Nurses National Union alleges a startling series of missteps that if anything would spread Ebola rather than isolate it just for example by first putting the finally admitted Ebola diagnosed Duncan not into isolation but for several hours in the open with other patients as healthcare personnel wore regular hospital clothes with no skin protection except improvised with medical tape as directed by the hospital with Ebola contaminated waste piled to the ceilings and while the workers were treating other hospital patients at the same time all sending Mr. Duncan's blood samples for testing through the hospital's shared regular use common blood tube system against all established procedures for an infectious agent of the level of Ebola which commonly has been known for decades.
Later breaking news is that the second Dallas healthcare worker the 29-year-old nurse Ebola patient contrary to strict CDC policy and guidelines knowing of her exposure to Ebola nevertheless this past Friday two days after Mr. Duncan died flew to Cleveland and two days ago on Monday flew from Cleveland to Dallas on Frontier flight 1143 potentially exposing as many as 130 passengers on that flight. It is unknown if the patient had been advised by the hospital that she absolutely should not fly because of the obvious risk of infection to others but now with both exposed healthcare workers at the hospital having violated their containment restrictions sentiment is growing that such behavior is "inexcusable" especially from healthcare workers one who actually was responsible for providing public information.
Although the working theory of the CDC had been that any hospital in the United States successfully could have diagnosed and contained any Ebola infected patient who presented to the hospital including through the CDC's repeated blanket distribution throughout the United States of specific instructions to hospitals detailing the proper protocol for Ebola occurrences the horrifying experience with Texas Presbyterian Health Hospital may have caused health officials at the CDC to reconsider. The second healthcare worker the 29-year-old nurse who also contracted Ebola at that hospital is being removed and flown under containment to Emory University Hospital which has had some success treating Ebola.
The hospital continues to demonstrate its complete disregard for health concerns and its focus on the bottom line as it continues to release the same what CNN calls "non-statement" regardless of what new disclosures and allegations emerge sounding as if it had been drafted by a committee of lawyers with no healthcare training as it doubtless was essentially taking no responsibility claiming the hospital has followed all appropriate procedures for training and equipping its healthcare workers emphasizing its commitment to safety to the point of intimating that it should be presented with some kind of award for its medical service to all. Meanwhile the Director of the CDC Dr. Frieden has called the hospital's conduct "inexcusable" and expressing regret he had not sent a CDC healthcare team to the hospital sooner had he known how clearly unprepared it was to deal with Ebola in any way. Meanwhile President Obama has cancelled a trip to New England as well as a meeting on the ISIS situation to meet this afternoon in Washington with top government officials regarding the Ebola outbreak.
Readers should be aware that a travel ban may be under consideration by the government although health officials currently deny that one would be "counterproductive" because it would hamper assistance by healthcare workers. However the Ninth Amendment editorial board's own concern based on no real world expertise whatsoever (just like all Americans because there never has been a United States widespread Ebola outbreak) is that readers need be aware that should a travel ban be ordered that in all reasonable likelihood that it will be without advance notice and immediately effective.
The Nation's top military official General Martin Dempsey Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff did today in an interview with CNN say that he is greatly concerned about an Ebola outbreak especially one that turns airborne because of the uncertainty to date among various Ebola "experts" of that possibility which is not an acceptable level of risk. The General said he is prepared for a "very aggressive response" should it appear necessary at any point and noted that there are members of his military staff who strongly believe that is not even a strong enough response given the current United States Ebola situation. One week ago the United States had one known imported Ebola case and in the period since despite government assurances that it knows what it is doing the American people are now aware of what are believed to be the first two cases ever contracted in the United States both by healthcare workers.
Finally it is worth noting that the Republican Party as part of its strategy to bring the Nation's government to a standstill has failed to confirm any Surgeon General for the United States so the United States remains without a chief medical officer a position also unfilled allegedly specifically because of of NRA opposition to the last nominee because he said guns were a "public health issue". As for available resources for treatment of Ebola patients the government has revealed that there are only four hospitals in the country located in Missoula, Montana and east with a total of about ten totally prepared containment beds. Dr. Gupta however has expressed his opinion that any concern about this is totally uncalled for as the containment and treatment procedures are not that complicated such that they can be successfully implemented in "rural central Africa". Meanwhile readers not altogether at ease with the official responses so far but who may be concerned about personal, family, loved ones, and friends' health due to the current Ebola situation should be aware for their own part that currently those being monitored for Ebola are told immediately to report a temperature that reaches 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit.
Meanwhile Google continues to retaliate against the Ninth Amendment by interfering with recent posts reader access and/or accurate statistical reporting for the Ninth Amendment's exposure of just one component of Google's deceptive practices in trying to coerce Google Blogger and other service users to switch to Google+ solely for Google's financial benefit in attempting to create a contrived very lucrative social media franchise by confuse current users into disclosing personal information and artificially create friendships and relationships between persons which are non-existent one example of which is discussed for interested readers in the link immediately below:
